Have you ever asked yourself or someone asked you?
What is the worst thing that could happen when sewing?
I have been sewing for a year and a half now. I have a list of things that can happen when sewing.
Please leave a comment if any of these things happened to you, I am curious to see your answers.
Hopefully, I will learn that I am not the only one.
Here is my list, they are:
- Bobbin thread runs out in the middle of your sewing project
- Knit fabric gets stuck in the feed dogs because I forgot not to start sewing directly at the end of the fabric, and I forgot to use my walking foot.
- Breaking a sewing needle in the middle of your sewing project
- Cutting the sewing pattern when cutting the pattern
- Losing a sewing needle and everything must stop until you find it.
- Dropping a sewing pin in your carpet and everything must stop until you find it
- Working on a sewing project until you finish it with sleep deprivation.
- Having incomplete projects because I set my expectations too high (Well, I thought that I could sew three garments in a week. I was wrong because I do not sew that fast.)
- Sewing a garment and trim the seam allowance too close to the stitching.
- Sewed the garment on the wrong side.
- Forgot to prewash the garment before cutting it.
- Purchased the wrong size for a commercial sewing pattern.
- Breaking a clip when pinning the garment
- Accidently sit on a sewing pin because you did not notice it fell in your seat.
- Purchased a minimum amount of fabric than the sewing pattern recommends because you forgot to look at the pattern before purchasing or ordering it.
- Repurchasing one of your favorite fabrics to find out that it is out of stock or no longer available.
- Accidently cut the fabric on the wrong side when you are required to cut it on the right side.
- Running out of matching thread in the middle of the night and store
- First time using a serger, it cuts away too much of the fabric.
- Forgetting to transfer the pattern markings.
- Sewing a shirt collar for the first time and it turns out wobbly.
- Not reinforcing the stitches in the crotch area and the stitches rip
These are a few things that have occurred while I was sewing. Have you experienced any of the above.
If you would like to share, please comment below with numbers, I am curious to see your answers.
